It’s not easy running your own business. At times, you may feel that your home life and work life are merging into one. Or that you no longer have time for the things that you enjoy. Sound familiar?
The good news is that it is possible to run your own business, succeed and have a balanced life. Keep reading to learn how.
Organise your time
One of the easiest and most effective ways to balance your home and work life is by organising your time. We recommend setting yourself “work hours” and sticking to them. Not only does this signify to your friends and loved ones that you’re busy at certain times of the day (distraction can be a huge productivity killer) but it ensures that you don’t let your home life slip into your work life and vice versa.
Schedule “me time”
Another must for those who work for themselves is scheduling “me time”. This may be in the form of an exercise class, a morning walk, time to read, or time to engage in a hobby of your choosing.
When your time is divided between home and work it can be very easy to forget about yourself and your own needs. Scheduling “me time” into your day (or week) is a fantastic tool for feeling more relaxed and productive (after all, productivity often stems from our mood!).
Let go of your guilt
This one is especially true for working parents – but the same can apply for spouses and loved ones.
Instead of dwelling on events or milestones that you may have missed in the past, we recommend giving yourself permission to move on and let go of the guilt. There are going to be times when your home life overrules your work live or vice versa, and put simply, you need to learn to roll with the punches without getting caught up in the guilt.
Remember the big picture
Finally, a great way to stay grounded and achieve a balanced life is to remember the big picture and why you started this journey in the first place.
Create a vision board or place an image on the lock screen of your phone as a visual prompt. Whatever your method, ensure its inspiring and you’re good to go!
