We’ve spoken briefly about the importance of networking events before. Today, we’re going to take this one step further and tell you exactly why you should be attending them on a regular basis.
Before we go any further, if you have been to a networking event regularly – please tell us all about your experience in the comment section below.
Networking events are about meeting people, sharing who you are and what you do and gaining contacts and information from people who could be valuable to your business moving forward.
- You get to meet people
One of the biggest gripes of small business owners or sole traders is that they don’t know many people in their industry or that their network is small. Networking events change this by putting you in a room with plenty of likeminded people!
- You get to learn new trends
Whenever there is a large group of people from the same or similar industries in a room together, conversation will shift to business and this is a key time to learn what works and what doesn’t for other business owners. You can also learn new trends and get a feel for where your industry is heading.
- You’ll be motivated to succeed
Just being around other business owners is motivating! Even more motivating is hearing about all the fantastic things they are achieving with their own businesses. Trust us, hearing about another person’s success will make you want it for yourself.
- You get to socialise
As we said above, running a small business can be a lonely experience. Networking events allow you to create your own version of “work drinks” by socialising with your industry counterparts. Now that sounds pretty great to us!
- You’ll find opportunities come knocking
Many industries rely on connections to thrive instead of the usual job boards or advertisements. By getting to know the right people at networking events, you’re opening yourself and your business up to opportunities you normally wouldn’t have access to.
If that isn’t enough of a reason to jump on google and find the next networking event in your area, we don’t know what is!
As we said up above, if you’ve been to a networking event before or are about to take the leap. Please share your experiences with us in the comment section below.
