What makes customers loyal to one business and not another? More so, how can you turn customers into repeat business?
The answer is pretty simple – you must earn your customer’s loyalty.
Step 1 – Know what you’re talking about
In order to instil confidence and loyalty in your customers you need to know the ins and outs of your business and the service you are offering.
There should be no question you cannot answer.
You may find it useful to create a set of notes for yourself that cover the key points of your business. You can refer to these when you’re taking business calls or sending emails.
Step 2 – Communicate clearly
Along with knowing exactly what you’re talking about, you need to be able to communicate these ideas clearly and concisely.
Step 3 – Show your worth with good service
It should come as no surprise that enticing repeat business usually stems from providing your customers with good service.
You should aim to uphold a stellar level of customer service at every stage of the customers’ journey.
Step 4 – Follow up
The final step of every customer service cycle should always be the follow up. This may take place in person, over the phone or via email. No matter the form you choose you use, you should contact each customer to follow up on the service they received.
For happy customers this is the ideal moment to try and extend their sale into repeat business. Alternatively, when happy customers are satisfied with your services they will be more likely to offer you referrals.
Step 5 – Ask for referrals
Asking customers for referrals does not need to be awkward or something fraught with fear. If they are happy with the service, they will more often than not talk about their experience of your business with their friends or be happy to pass along details of people who may be interested.
As with all the other points, developing customer loyalty is key.
