The key to success for any business professional is their customers, but you can’t rely on existing customers alone.
So, how do you find new customers? It’s as simple as following these five steps.
- Get out of your comfort zone
Most people have what we like to call a business comfort zone.
They’ve tried and tested a few ways to connect with new customers, maybe they’ve made a few sales and their business is doing ok, but it could be doing better.
By jumping out of your comfort zone you will open yourself up to new opportunities, which in turn can mean new customers, and we like the sound of that!
- Use your existing network and connections
You should always leverage your existing network and connections when searching for new customers.
This can be as simple as asking for referrals, getting testimonials or producing repeat business.
- Position yourself as an “expert” in your local community
Take any opportunity in your local community to position yourself as an “expert” in the business field.
This may mean giving talks at community meetings, networking with parent committees at local schools, or speaking with other small business owners. The approach you take is not what’s important, rather the opportunities you allow yourself to take part in.
- Use call to action prompts on all marketing material
Call to action prompts are a piece of content intended to persuade the viewer, reader or listener to perform a specific task. They generally take the form of an instruction, like “buy now” or “call [insert phone number] for more info”.
Every single piece of marketing material needs to include a call to action that directs the potential customer into taking action. Without these prompts, your marketing is likely to fall on deaf ears.
- Get to know other industry professionals
Lastly, it’s important to get to know other industry professionals. These people may be your hidden secret to finding new customers and sales. You never know how someone else in your industry, or a similar industry will be able to help!
