Are you feeling more tired than usual?
Perhaps you’re quicker to bite when someone disagrees with you or you’re struggling to get a good night’s sleep.
In the current climate, this is 100% understandable and is something being experienced by more people than you would realise.
The good news is, this feeling is manageable with a few simple tweaks to your daily life.
Set a routine
To begin with, we strongly encourage each and everyone one of you to follow a daily routine. What this does is keep your body clock ticking over in the same way it would when you’re following your typical workday.
It can be as simple as getting up at the same time each day and following a set bedtime. Over a few days you’ll start to notice that your emotions and energy level out and you’re able to tackle the day with more enthusiasm.
It can be tempting to curl up on the couch for another Netflix binge during home isolation. However, many studies show that keeping active has a whole range of benefits including an increase in energy. Doesn’t that sound like a great excuse to go for a walk?
Be aware of your screen time
Another proven drain on our energy during difficult times can be screens. We understand that smartphones, tables, computers and TVs are many family’s lifeline to the world at present, and we’re not saying you should cut them out entirely. Rather, learn to break up your day with moments of screen-free time.
Play outside with your family, read a book, bake a cake, or get creative with arts and crafts. You’ll be having so much fun you won’t realise the absence of screens.
Track your feelings and evaluate
Lastly, we recommend paying attention to your feelings and asking yourself questions such as the following: What is important to you? What can you remove from your life that is not serving you well during this time?
Once you have the answers you can work towards removing negative stimulus that may be knocking you down and draining your energy.
